The player has more power to choose which town to live in, by being given 4 random pre-set towns when starting the game. The town is now more customizable than ever before. Isabelle was also introduced as the 'eager secretary' that helps the player throughout the game.Ĭelebration of a newly completed Public Works project Throughout the town, benches and a beehive were shown, with a villager and later a player sitting on the bench. A male player was also shown coming out of what appeared to be his tent-house. A player was shown changing not only his shirt, but also his shoes and pants. The trailer showed off a new feature in the game: swimming and diving in the ocean. Additionally, a new trailer was released. A non-playable demo was also available on the show floor at Nintendo's booth as an example of 3D effects.Īt E3 2011 during Nintendo's press conference, the Animal Crossing logo among others, appeared on-screen as a list of upcoming 3DS games. Shortly after, there was news that the player could be the mayor of the town, with the goal being to make the town a better place to live. A trailer was shown featuring updated features, and few new features. Either way, it's important to soak in Animal Crossing's Northern Lights display when it finally occurs and snap a picture as quickly as possible before it goes away. The game was originally unveiled at E3 2010, though very little was shown. The best way to find out if the Northern Lights is to talk to villagers during the day, who will comment on how excited they are to see the Lights later in the evening. Players can also look out for villagers watching the Lights when they do show up, as they will also comment to the player about how much they enjoyed the show and took pictures. The Lights also never appear in the same place twice and don't last very long, so players might have to do some exploring each night to try and catch them and may miss them entirely. Even if a player experiences clear skies for most of the winter months, the randomness of the event means that there is no surefire way to determine when the Lights will show up. The Northern Lights display in Animal Crossing is beautiful, but it is also tough to find. Related: Animal Crossing: Nintendo's Inconsistent Time Travel Rules Are REALLY Frustrating Players

The Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, is a natural phenomenon that occurs every winter where the night sky lights up in various colors due to the high amount of charged particles in the atmosphere. When these particles collide, they create a beautiful combination of green, blue and yellow rays, though purple and red lights have been known to show up on occasion. This display can only be seen in the most Northern or Southern parts of the globe (when viewed in the South, it is referred to as the Aurora Australis/Southern Lights), but it can also be seen in the Animal Crossing games.
